Sunday School Options

for this Fall:

Children and Youth:

Preschool- 1st grade Curriculum: FaithWeaver
2
nd – 5th grade Curriculum: FaithWeaver
Youth (6
th and up) Curriculum: TalkSheets from Group publishing
Senior highs can choose between attending the youth class and being a regular assistant in one of the younger classes. Please contact Lynn Watkins at 760-9238 if you would like to be a classroom assistant.

FaithWeaver curriculum is new to us this Fall. The lessons for September through November will be from the Old Testament. FaithWeaver’s goal is to “weave faith in Jesus Christ into all areas of learners’ lives”. Kids will:
-Experience God’s story in fresh, fun and meaningful ways;
-Understand God’s Word by doing surprising, fun stuff;
-Discover the adventure of applying God’s truth to everyday life;
-Build a forever friendship with Jesus

TalkSheets curriculum for youth incorporates topics from everyday life in each lesson and ties the discussion into what the Bible tells us about each topic. Youth and leaders enjoy discussing topics affecting society such as hunger and war to topics of a more personal interest such as dealing with conflicts with parents or friends and how to live a Christian life.

It’s never too late to join us for Sunday school, every Sunday morning at 9:15AM! If you have questions about the children and youth classes, please contact Lynn Watkins at 760-9238.

Middle School Youth!

Youth meetings this Fall will focus on mission/service to others and fun with each other. We have lots to look forward to. Here are some dates to put on your calendar:

September 5- 5:00-7:00PM- meet at the church for pizza and prepare care packages for Shallowford college students- make cookies and brownies, write cards, etc. Bring something you think they would appreciate receiving that will fit in a shoebox with some room left over for cookies.

Shallowford Church Picnic- Sunday September 19, 4:30-7:30PM at Joanie Moser Park (lots of great food, time to socialize, play together-volleyball, horseshoes, bocci ball, Frisbee throwing, etc.)

Gleaning project- date to be determined- travel to fields where farmers have finished harvesting but some usable produce remains and glean (pick) the produce to donate to food pantries. Marybeth Stanley coordinator.

Parent’s Night Out- Friday, September 24 - serve your church and the community by helping to care for children while their parents get a few hours off from their parenting duties. Parents make donations for this service and this money goes to support youth mission work.

October 16- support our preschool at the WFCPreschool Fall Festival at the church; volunteer to supervise children’s games in the parking lot. 8:00AM- ? More details to come.

October 17- CropWalk perform mission to hungry people both locally and worldwide by raising donations before this date and then participating in the 1 mile walk on this date after church. More details to come.

October 22nd- Shallowford Storytelling Night. The drama group will perform and the youth will have a special presentation. Many youth are already involved in this group. The rest of you are welcome to join in for this event or come to cheer on your friends. Grace Ellis coordinator.

Serving at Samaritan Ministries soup kitchen- date TBA. This is a homeless shelter for men at night, but serves lunches to anyone who arrives during the day. We will help prepare for and serve a lunch to the people who come. Always a meaningful experience for any age group!

November- date TBA- Operation Shoe Box collects donations of gifts for children around the world and wraps the gifts in shoeboxes to mail so that poor children will have a Christmas present. Also collect donations to pay for the mailing of the boxes.

More great things to come-any questions or suggestions, call Lynn Watkins or Bret Rice.
