Worship
At
the center of our church life is the weekly worship of God! The
church gathers to seek God together, to listen to God's voice
through the Holy Scriptures, through preaching, through music,
through the mutual faith of each other. Worship at Shallowford
seeks above all else to give God the glory. Our sanctuary enhances
the senses to worship God with our whole being. It is truly a holy
place which evokes joy, reverence, and awe. Music has been and
always will be an integral part of worship here. We have avoided
using terms like "traditional" or "contemporary" or "blended" to
describe our worship, but if you attended a worship service, you
would likely observe aspects of all three.
Worship, of course, not only takes place on Sunday mornings, but on
different days times throughout the year. Shallowford has special
services for Healing and Wholeness, special Taize Prayer services
(ordered after the Taize Community in France), and special seasonal
services during Advent, Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. The
Sacrament of the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) is celebrated every
first Sunday of the month and at other special times during the
Christian year.
The best way to experience worship at Shallowford is simply to join
us and see for yourself, and we invite you to do just that!!
