Session Summary By: Charley Rose Congregational Meeting: February 15, 2009 At this meeting the congregation was provided an explanation of the 2009 Budget. In addition, each committee provided a report of the work of the committee. Stated Session Meeting: February 16, 2009 At this meeting the Session: " Approved the 2008 Annual Statistical Report of the Church" Transferred the membership of Linda Birdsong to Centenary United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, NC." Transferred the membership of Kevin and Susan Tanzer to the First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro, NC." Approved a Lenten Series on “Forgiveness” taught by Gerald Donnelly." Discussed plans for the playground dedication.Session Retreat: February 20 and 21, 2009 The Session participated in a retreat at the church which focused on a Vision for Shallowford. Presentation to the Congregation: March 15, 2009 As a part of the worship service on March 15, 2009, the Session made a presentation to the congregation on the Visioning process. Stated Session Meeting: March 16, 2009 At this meeting the Session " Approved two small group offerings from the Adult Ministries Committee:- Stepping Up: Psalms of Assent, a seven week Beth Moore Bible Study, led by Katheryn Holt beginning June 24th. - Christian Prayer for Today, a ten week study based on a book by Martha Moore-Keish, led by Stewart Ellis, beginning September 15th. " Revisited the Covenant with West Forsyth Christian Pre-School and adjusted charges for utilities." Discussed and set in motion a process for personnel evaluations for our staff." Approved a pulpit exchange with Unity Moravian Church on May 31, 2009.Called Session Meeting: March 22, 2009 At this meeting the Session received Robert McFadden into the membership of Shallowford. |
