Ash Wednesday Service Begin your Lenten journey on Wednesday, February 22, as we join at 7:00pm for our traditional Ash Wednesday Service.
Lenten Study This Lenten season Shallowford will be offering the study Living Before God by Ben Johnson. This study will be led by Pastor Rob and Nathan Peifer, and will be presented in small groups. One group study will be held in the morning and the other group will meet in the evening. This will be a 5 week study beginning on Wednesday, February 29, and ending on March 28. The morning group will begin at 10:00am and end at 11:00am. The evening group will begin at 6:30pm and end at 7:30pm, with child care provided if needed in the evening.
Living Before God is a book that seeks to help individuals live constantly in God’s presence. Ben Johnson offers a collection of traditional spiritual practices that Christians have found helpful in fostering a more consistent relationship with God. He explores ways of being with God, listening to God, and attending the divine presence.
To participate in one of the these study groups, please sign up and place book order in the mailroom by February 15. Cost of the book is $ 15.00 which will be collected at the beginning of the class.
2012 Shallowford Series Sunday, February 19, 3:00PM - UNCSA Flute Tour Performing will be flutists Julian Rose, Mary Rose
Neiman and Milan Jeremic and pianist Matthew Stephens. The program
will include works by Pierre Sancan, Georges Adolphe Hüe, Henri
Dutilleux, Andre Jolivet and Jules Demersseman/Félix Berthélemy. The concert is free to the public. A reception will follow the program. The third program in the 2012 Shallowford Series will take place on Sunday, March 25.
Preschool Fund Raiser This is the last week for the WFCPreschool fund-raiser - Butter Braid pastries. For those of you that are not familiar with the pastries - you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them. For each pastry sold the preschool earns $5.00. Order forms must be submitted by February 9. Product delivery is the week of February 20. Order forms are available in the narthex or call the preschool at 766-0301 for more details!
